Our Next Generation: Academics bursary recipient for 2025 – 2026, Lily Raymond, is studying at Trent University in the Bachelor of Forensic Biology program.

Lily is passionate about skiing, having started at Apex Mountain Resort when she was two. She joined the racing program and eventually became a coach with the Apex Ski Club. Besides skiing, she enjoys playing soccer and hiking, and has accomplished her violin levels 4 through 8 with the Royal Conservatory of Music, and plans to join a symphony after post-secondary education.

Inter-Mtn. is proud to award Simon Yanow of Selkirk College’s Ski Resort Operations and Management (SROAM) program as the Next Generation: Academics bursary recipient for 2024 – 2025.

Each year, we host first-year SROAM students, such as Simon, welcoming them to the ski industry, introducing them to what we, as industry partners, do, while highlighting the roles we play as a supplier.

During the program’s tour, Simon stated that it was very interesting to learn where much of the equipment at ski hills comes from, and that it was neat to see what was being done for the ski industry.

We were pleased to learn of Simon’s passion for the ski industry and to support him as he and his peers enter the workforce. As we remain committed to supporting the Next Generation: Academics and the SROAM program, we were thrilled to select Simon Yanow as this year’s bursary recipient.

Inter-Mtn. is proud to award Hudson Boyd as the Next Generation: Academics bursary recipient for 2024 – 2025.

With the goal of earning his Red Seal as an Autobody Technician at Okanagan College, Hudson aims to apprentice at a shop to expand his skills. During his free time, Hudson enjoys outdoor activities. He loves being outside, where he can pursue his passions for skateboarding and snowboarding.

Inter-Mtn. Enterprises and Inter-Mtn. Testing is proud to come together to award Kenna Robinson as the joint recipient of the Next Generation: Academics bursary 2024 – 2025.

Kenna aspires to shape the next generation herself. She enrolled in Thompson Rivers University’s Bachelor of Sociology program with the goal of becoming a kindergarten teacher. In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, and skiing. However, her main passion is Olympic weightlifting, which she has been practicing for more than five years, having competed at Provincials and recently taking part in her third Nationals.

Together with Inter-Mtn. Testing, we are proud to jointly award the 2024 – 2025 Next Generation: Academics bursary to Kenna, the daughter of Stephanie Robinson from Inter-Mtn. Testing.

Braedon Parsons' academic journey is a shining example of dedication and ambition. As he embarks on the Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship program at Okanagan College, his goal is clear: to complete the four-year program, earn a Red Seal certificate, and become an Electrician. Therefore, we were proud to see him honoured with the 2023 – 2024 Academic Award bursary during his graduation ceremony at Kelowna Secondary School.

When he is not working or studying, Braedon enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, camping, hiking, and snowboarding. He considers the outdoors his happy place. He is an excellent example of the qualities we look for in supporting the Next Generation, particularly in academics.

Braedon is a positive presence wherever he goes, which we know all too well. As the son of our Production Manager, Mandy, we have watched him grow from a boy to a young man. Let's celebrate his accomplishments as the Next Generation: Academics bursary recipient.

Molly Raymond was granted the 2022 – 2023 Academic Award bursary. She is attending the University of Calgary for Geography. Molly was relieved to receive this bursary because it represented her strong contribution to ski racing and school while alleviating some financial stress. She added that it helped her remain grounded, going on to say: "It is important to know and remember how I got to where I am today as well as being proud that I am able to take the passion I have for skiing and express it within my school environment."

Entering her studies at the University of Calgary, Molly's main goal is to maintain a high GPA that will open up various opportunities—within a competitive environment—when she crosses the finish line of graduation. As a competitive ski racer, Molly is familiar with the challenging nature of competitive environments. She is determined to push through any obstacles and display her resilience to achieve her goals. “Skiing taught me strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment, which can all be used in my school today!"

Molly exemplifies what we look for when selecting the recipient for the Next Generation: Academics bursary. We are proud to have awarded Molly, and we are excited to see her take off her education while continuing the legacy of enriching the lives of the Next Generation.

The future is bright for Sydney Day, who is enrolled in Social Sciences at the University of Victoria (UVIC). Intending to become a Forensic Psychologist, Sydney appreciated receiving the 2022 – 2023 Academic Award bursary as it helped her cover some of the university costs, providing more time to focus on her studies.

As a former Inter-Mtn. employee and a promising student, it did not take much investigating to determine that Sydney would be deemed responsible for this award! As someone who loves spending time at her local ski resort, Big White Ski Resort, the cabin at Mabel Lake, and being an overall outdoor enthusiast, we are excited that Sydney used her detection skills to apply and become this recipient of the Next Generation: Academics bursary.
