Recognizing young athletes with promise, passion, and a genuine love for their sport

Sponsored Athlete Application

We believe encouragement can make a difference, especially when a young athlete is still discovering what they're capable of. Our Sponsored Athlete program isn't about finding the athlete with the best results. It's about recognizing promise, passion and commitment, and giving a young person a little extra support and confidence to keep pursuing something they love.
Each year, Inter-Mtn. commits to sponsoring at least one eligible athlete aged 15–19 with $500 CAD in support. In some years, we may choose to recognize more than one athlete.

Sponsored Athlete x3
Sport:
Freestyle Mogul Skiing
Year:
2024 – 2027

Emelie McCaughey, a freestyle mogul skier from Apex Mountain Resort, returned as a consecutive three-time Sponsored Athlete for the 2026 – 2027 season.

As a member of the BC Freestyle Provincial Development Mogul team, Emelie trains year-round, balancing on-snow camps, water ramping, strength training, travel, and competition as she continues to develop her skills and confidence on course. This year, Emelie started the season with three weeks of water-ramp training in Whistler before travelling to Sweden. She had trained there before, including at a late-fall on-snow camp in Idre Fjäll, and finished that season at a 2026 FIS Open competition. Before the 2026 season, she spent three weeks training in Tignes, France, in July, followed by water-ramp camps in Whistler.

Emelie is preparing for another busy competition season, building on her progress and proudest achievement: winning at Junior Nationals in 2024, earning a spot on the BC Mogul team and competing on the NorAm Circuit. She aspires to work her way to competing on the World Cup circuit. As a three-time sponsored athlete, Emelie values the friendships and strong connections she has built through mogul skiing.

Ski Racing
Year:
2025 – 2027

Yorke Parkin, a decorated ski racer from Revelstoke, BC, has taken the world of alpine skiing by storm! Driven to become the fastest in the world, Yorke is part of the Special Olympics Revelstoke Team and Inter-Mtn.'s two-time Sponsored Athlete for the 2025 – 2026 and 2026 – 2027 seasons.

“I am the fastest Special Olympics Ski Racer in the world,” Yorke said. “I won three gold medals at the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games, three at the 2024 Canada Games, and three at the 2023 BC Games."

When Yorke isn't racing to the top of a podium, he is currently in school to become a heavy equipment operator and, starting winter 2026, will become one. On top of that, he enjoys coaching skiing, improving his fitness, riding his motorbike, and focusing on his next goal: competing at the Special Olympics World Winter Games Switzerland 2029. Being already selected for the BC Games in February 2027 helps. Along with demonstrating promise and passion in his sport, Yorke regularly inspires his teammates and plans to start coaching skiing, traits that represent what we look for in a Sponsored Athlete.

Sport:
Freestyle Skiing
Year:
2023 – 2024

Freya Keyserlingk, one of the keenest skiers you'll meet and a Whitewater Freeride U19 program member, has been selected as Inter-Mtn.'s Sponsored Athlete for the 2023 – 2024 season. In her debut year competing in the 15-18 age group, she secured second-place finishes at the Whitewater, Red Mountain, and Kimberly competitions, qualifying second and third, respectfully, at Revelstoke and Whistler. Her impressive performances in that season landed her the 22nd spot overall for females aged 15-18 in North America.

When not competing, Freya skis with her younger sister, who is also in Freeride, her "girl posse," and the boys taking airs, doing backflips and "other crazy teenager stuff," as told by her father, Martin. He added that Freya wants to be at the hill any chance she can, is a straight-A student in French immersion, and is an avid soccer player competing and excelling at the highest level for her age.

On top of being a keen skier, Freya shows promise and passion in soccer and mountain biking, too! An athlete who stands out in her community and is known for her hard work and commitment, Freya is Inter-Mtn.'s 2023 – 2024 Sponsored Athlete. We are excited to cheer her on as she competes in many events, including the North American Junior Freeride competition and Junior Worlds..

Molly Raymond

Award:
Sponsored Athlete
Sport:
Ski Racing
Year:
2019 – 2023

Based out of Apex Mountain Resort, Molly Raymond, Inter-Mtn.'s Sponsored Athlete from 2019 – 2023, was part of the Apex Ski Club, the Okanagan Ski Team, and FIS. She consistently displayed promise and passion in academics and ski racing while working very hard to save up as much as she could so that she could continue racing.

"My passion for outdoor recreation plays a huge part in my daily life because it is one of the things that can always put a smile on my face and feel good while doing it," said Molly.

With an unrelenting passion for skiing, more specifically ski racing, Molly raced competitively for 8-years, and while doing so, she learned a lot and took away so many positives that she can utilize throughout her life and education as she attends the University of Calgary for Geography. "Skiing taught me strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment, which can all be used in my school today!"
